GasWorks Park in Seattle

Gasworks park is built on the location of a former coal gasification plant. It is an iconic park and definitely worth the visit on a sunny day in the city. It has an amazing hill to run down and fly kites of (Kite Hill), a phenomenal view of downtown Seattle and direct access to Lake Union. It's wonderful to sit near the top of the hill and people watch and enjoy the beautiful lake views.

The park is registered on the National Register of Historic Places since 2013 and is a wonderful place to spend with the family on a beautiful summer day in Seattle. We had the opportunity to spend several hours on a weekend afternoon and watched our kids play soccer down the hill with Japanese tourists, observed a wedding on top of Kite Hill and watched boats sail by and sea planes land. It was amazing and probably my new favorite place in all of Seattle.

The only con is the bathrooms, they are not super nice or super clean. The playground was not open yet as its being updated, however there was so much else to do that the kids barely even noticed.
